As part of the Erasmus+ program "Water is not only water, water is our future", students from Italy, Slovakia, Turkey and Poland spent a week in Portugal, in the Algarve. During the exchange, students worked on a song about water and they also wrote the letter to Mother Earth.
The meeting was also the opportunity to visit the costume museum, where they also learned how to obtain cork, i.e. tree bark. The students altogether with their teachers visited the school in São Brás. They were impressed by the large classrooms, sports halls and the school cafeteria. The students visited the place like Vila Vita, where they learnt how water from the ocean is desalinated. The program also included a trip to the forest, where the students learned how to kill an invasive species of acacia trees. These plants absorb a lot of water, which lacks in Portugal, so they should be eradicated. One day was entirely devoted to spending time on the beach on Farol Island, which was reached by boat. The other day, the students spent visiting the old town of Faro and the cathedral.
The whole trip made the students aware of the problems related to the lack of water in the world. The students got to know the culture prevailing there while training their English language skills.
