From April 3rd to April 9th students from Italy, Slovakia, Turkey, Portugal and Poland participated in the meeting as part of the Erasmus+ project ‘Water is not only water. Water is our future’. The host school was IIS Luigi di Savoia in Chieti.
The activities involved regular school activities i.e. participating in classes. Students had the chance to see and get familiar with the classrooms at school IIS Luigi di Savoia. They also participated in special activities outside the classroom. Teachers were also involved in the workshops, cultural visits, meetings and free-time activities. Students participating in the project presented traditional dances, songs and other customs. The participants had an opportunity to try traditional dishes particular for the region Abruzzo in Italy.
The project combines many tasks - the students participating in the meeting in Italy learned about the water situation in Italy. The meeting in Italy was also an opportunity to present the water conditions in the countries participating in the project. The students also took part in a lecture about the water situation. One of the elements of the meeting was cleaning the beach in Pescara - a town neighbouring Chieti. The students also saw the endearing coast of the Costa dei Trabocchi, with its specific fishing structures. The students also started working on a five-language dictionary with water-related terminology.
The meeting in Italy was also an opportunity for students to cooperate and develop their competences in the field of communication in a foreign language. As the name of the project says "Water is not only water. Water is our future", this term shows us what a broad aspect of water is in our lives. The meeting in Italy was the first trip of students as part of the project. The following meetings of the students will take place in Portugal, Turkey and Poland.
